I wore this outfit a while ago for my friends Kristina and David’s engagement party. I’ve gotten a lot of questions about it on Instagram so I figured it was due time to feature it here on the blog.
Kristina’s engagement was surprise in Charlotte, where she lives now. Bonny and I headed up there for the weekend and met up with Butch (Erin Butcher) who flew in from Boston just to be there for less than 48 hours…. seriously, what a friend.
We had a BLAST surprising her and getting to celebrate afterward. We hit a few fun bars and ended the night on David’s roof. Disclaimer: I was no longer in heels at this point. Safety first, kids.
I got the dress and shoes from ASOS (shocker) and I also got a basketweave cross body (not featured, but I linked a similar and well-priced one here).
I’ve been loving the mules trend and this bright blue pair have been heavy on my rotation. I love nothing more than things that are easy… and nothing is easier than no ties, buckles, or zippers.

Today’s track is from Noname, an artist I’ve been loving for a few months. I discovered her through Chance the Rapper while listening to his 2013 mixtape, Acid Rap. She’s a spoken word poet and a hip hop artist, which shines through her tracks. Her raps are soft-spoken and soulful, a nice change of pace from the louder, self-promoting rappers of today. Her collaborations with Chance make sense as they carry the same thoughtful, smart aura about themselves.
